Our Members Extend “A Helping Hand Along the Way”
Travelers Aid International is a national network of social service agencies and transportation services organized to assist our 43 member agencies in meeting the critical needs of individuals, frequently in crisis situations, by extending “A Helping Hand Along the Way.”
Our members are a diverse group of human service nonprofit organizations and a network of key transportation centers. Each member agency has evolved to provide core services that meet their own community’s specific needs. Our members help stranded travelers and provide shelter for the homeless, transitional housing, job training, counseling, local transportation assistance and other programs to help people who encounter crises as they journey through life, as well as information and referral services at airports, train stations and bus depots.
Through our network, nearly 5,000 Travelers Aid volunteers and professional staff members assists more than 29 million individuals including travelers, veterans, seniors, children, and homeless to get from a position of instability to one of stability.
We exist to ensure that people in transit receive assistance when and where it is needed in communities and travel hubs. The basic need has been ever present, but in our growing country and ever changing economy the ways to meet the need have changed. Travelers Aid International is positioned to adapt to those changes so that it is most effective in assisting the travelers of today.
The Travelers Aid International mission is to aid people in transit who are in distress, through our direct services and through services provided by our member organizations.
