Volunteers are the heart of our mission
Each day, across busy terminals and quiet moments of need, Travelers Aid volunteers show up with compassion, dedication, and a spirit of service that defines who we are.
In 2024 alone, our volunteer-based airport programs at Reagan National-DCA, Dulles International-IAD, John F. Kennedy International-JFK, Newark Liberty International–EWR, Bradley International-BDL, and Philadelphia International-PHL Airports served over 2 million travelers. Whether offering directions, comfort, or critical support, these extraordinary individuals are the human connection that makes every journey smoother.
Travelers Aid International simply could not do what we do without them. Their tireless commitment uplifts not just our mission—but the millions who rely on it.

Beginning in the 1880s, spurred in part by organizations like the YWCA, Travelers Aid programs were formed in major U.S. cities specifically to provide protection for women and girls traveling alone.
